2020 - 310,000 Steps in October

Story

That’s 10,000 steps every day for the whole month … or more so that I can have some duvet days! It's Baby Loss Awareness Week in October (9-15th) and with events cancelled this year I am doing this challenge to raise much needed funds for Sands. Most people can’t imagine what it’s like losing your child. I can’t imagine what it’s like losing your child during lockdown. Sands befrienders are still there to support families through their baby loss. Sands want to ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of time; they campaign for change and support research so that fewer babies die and so that fewer families experience the pain of losing a baby.

Happy Halloween - Steps challenge completed!

11th November 2020
I've done it!! I topped 400,000 steps on a very windy Halloween walk along the Union Canal. Between us Niamh's mum and dad have walked over 750,000 steps in October, and thanks to your generosity we have raised £986.25 for Sands. Because I finished the 310,000 steps challenge early it might not have seemed tough but believe me it was. It was emotionally exhausting during baby loss awareness week, and it was physically tough after our epic walking weekend on Islay when it took a few days for my feet to stop tingling (75,000 steps in 3 days!). I have though really enjoyed this challenge, all the fresh air, exercise and beautiful scenery was fantastic, I can't recommend it more, especially just now! A huge thank you to Sands for coming up with it, and all the support that we have continued to receive over the last 18 months. As she is every day, Niamh was very much with us every step of the way. Much love to all xx

400,000 Steps in October!

11th November 2020
After reaching 310,000 steps on the 24th October, and over £800 in donations I wasn't ready to stop there! So I revised my target to 400,000 steps in October, 10,000 steps for every week we had with Baby Niamh xxx
